Dad

I was only 12 years old when I wrote my first published piece—a poem about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.
On June 20, 1968, The Patterson Evening News, Patterson, NJ, published my poem in Ben Marmo's popular "Strictly LOCAL" column. My Father, James White Sr., who was an all-state catcher from Central High School, a star at Villanova University and the top-ranked Uncle Sam's team, proudly sent it in. To see my words in print at such a young age is something I'll never forget.

Here is the newspaper article and poem, exactly as it appeared in the news paper. Now, a whole lifetime later, here's a song titled "Dad" about the man who truly inspired me. Happy Father's Day Dad!
